NEMO Lighting Enters the World of NFTs.

Never ones to be left in the dust, Nemo Lighting has launched a collection of NFT works, realised by Luca Baldocchi of SodlabStudio.

The formidable lighting brand has been around since 1993, carrying ‘The Masters’ collection featuring 20th Century designs from Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, Vico Magistretti and Franco Albini, while simultaneously fostering contemporary architects and designers from Mario Bellini to Arihiro Miyake.

Partnering with Luca, a ‘Digital Interior Designer’ with years of 3D projects under his wing they are together working on a reinterpretation of Nemo’s icons in a metaphysical direction.

“We wish to dematerialise iconic elements of our collection and embody the same in a project that guarantees autonomy, uniqueness and value throughout time,” says Federico Palazzari, CEO of Nemo.

The interpretation adopted by the company banks on the security of the Blockchain and, in the transmission of NFT as a digital asset, comparable to a property certificate, which incorporates the rights of a drawing, a render, a sketch linked to a product in the collection, in a totally protected and controlled way.

Palazzari says — “We realised that NFTs are a new, very powerful communication tool, with dynamics opposite to the tangible, actual world. They are safe tools for the information transformation: through an NFT, which I see as a container — you can exchange data with users, customers, followers; and this data can also be gifts, promotions, which I convey exactly as I wish, through a safe channel.”

As one of the first design companies to enter the NFT world, only time will tell what this means for design in more broad terms. Watch this space.
